Work on the Climate Protection Plan for Rostock starts
MVV Consultants and Engineers GmbH took part in and won the tender submission procedure for the elaboration of a Climate Protection Plan for Rostock, the largest city in the northern German federal state, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
After more than 5 years of challenging and successful work for the government of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, this project marks the beginning of a new collaboration with another client in the region, this time on the local level. This continuity will certainly assist the climate protection goals defined in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Climate Protection Plan to be implemented smoothly on a local level. After ratification of the Kyoto Protocol by Japan, its obligatory practical implementation is now more and more likely to take place in the near future.
The Synergy Eastern Climate Change Network project is complementing the implementation of the Kyoto flexibility mechanisms in the participating countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS. Support is provided by collecting and publishing information on the projects proposed and the establishment of mechanisms by the participating Annex I–countries i.e. industrialised countries which are entitled to develop their own national mechanisms for processing joint implementation projects.
The approaches developed in the different countries are so far different and will soon be made available on the project’s web-site www.eclimnet. com.
As a result, the Synergy Eastern Climate Change Network Project will serve as a powerful support tool for companies interested in investing in projects which are suitable to be submitted under the joint implementation and clean development mechanisms, thereby hedging the risk of non-compliance with those obligations made for emission reductions. Green parks for Qingdao
The City of Mannheim has signed a contract with the EU, within the ASIA-URBS programme, to support green parks for the City of

Qingdao. So far there has been no international information exchange regarding city planning in this area.
MVV Consultants and Engineers is responsible for elaborating the detailed tendering procedure.
With 7 million inhabitants, Qingdao is located directly on the Yellow Sea and has been selected for the sailing competition in the 2008 Olympic Games. The city is expanding heavily, with the construction of a number of new industrial zones. Contact: Andreas Jahn a.jahn@ consultants.mvv.de
